Can Dry Skin Benefit from Body Wraps?

Basic dry skin and eczema treatment gets a boost with a good body wrap

One of the best things you can do for problem skin is detoxify. When the body gets loaded with chemicals and other toxins, one of the first places you see it is on the skin. People with dry skin and eczema are especially susceptible since the tiny cracks in the skin allow the absorption of more toxins than healthy skin that has the outer protective layer intact. Protecting that layer with a good dry skin and eczema treatment product will help heal the external problem, but a good body wrap can give you a jump-start on handling the internal problems.

A body wrap is a truly unique experience. You’re stripped to your underwear and wrapped in gauze bandages from head to toe. Your pores are then opened up by applying heat – sometimes you’re put under a thermal blanket – so the detox process can begin.

Where things go from there depends on the type of body wrap you’re getting. One of the wraps I had was a real workout. After I’d been mummified, I was drenched in a mineral-rich liquid specially formulated for dry skin, my hands and feet were covered with little plastic bags, and I was told to dance. For an hour.

The music came on along with a video showing me the dance steps, and I began. Every once in a while the attendant came in to give me another soaking, and, believe it or not, empty my bags. And they were full.

It was a very funny experience – dancing around in my mummy outfit – but, honestly, I can’t remember feeling so clean, so rejuvenated and so relaxed as when I walked out of there. My dry skin was non-existent. Instead it was smooth, supple, fresh and clean, and had more bounce than it had in years. Actually, so did I.

If you haven’t tried body wraps, give it a shot. If it does half the good it did me, it’s well worth the price.

Follow up your wrap with a good dry skin treatment product that keeps that newly found moisture in and dangerous chemicals out, and you’ll have longer lasting results.
